London
I was sitting in School one day
when Mrs Oakes came to say
"You few children have been excellent
so I'm taking you to the Houses of Parliament."
There was Eden, Lara, James and Ben,
Sally Keeble and a film crew from ITN.
There were lots of men in suits
But we also met Levi Roots.
Reggae Reggae sauce is his patent brand
But he longs to fight starvation in his fatherland.
A wonderful day we all had
although starving children still makes us sad.

Jan 4th 2010
Over 1,100 boxes were loaded up before Christmas to send off to Africa!
Half will be going to Tanzania, to Pasada in Dar es Salaam, and half to Zimbabwe to children in residential and community care.

Many thanks to everyone who filled the boxes, and who helped load up and transport them.
In the pictures are the collections from Hallfield and Brunswick Park Schools in Paddington and Southwark in London, and from Standens Barn in Northampton.
Also pictured is Kim from DHL who collected up the boxes from Buckingham. Thanks to her for this special help that she gave.
All the paperwork is now being processed to get the charity clearances so the boxes can be flown out to Africa.

SCHOOLS FOR AFRICA LAUNCHES 2009 CAMPAIGN

Schools for Africa launches its 2009 campaign with new leaflets, resource pack and lesson plans.
The campaign this year is to raise money to feed children in Zimbabwe through our School Meal Deal. You can donate through
www.justgiving.com/schoolsforafrica.
This year we are working with the UN World Food Programme and the School Food Trust so that together we can raise more money to feed hungry children round the world.
There are lots of activities for your school using the resource pack and lesson plans. The Parliamentary reception will be on October 12th - there'll be more news on that on the website.
We will also be providing giftboxes with educational materials, toys and clothes for children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and Aids.

THANKS TO UK CHILDREN!
Thanks to all the children, headteachers and their staff teams and parents for making Schools for Africa 2008 a success!
In addition to sending the boxes, a £3,000 cheque went to the Kenyan Network of Women with Aids to buy food for the children they support!
This was a great commitment to support some of the most needy children in the world.
If you're one of the schools that took part and want to send in any of your own news or pictures or want more information please email keebles@parliament.uk

LEVI ROOTS OF REGGAE REGGAE SAUCE FAME TO BE SPECIAL GUEST AT OUR PARLIAMENTARY RECEPTION
October 13th 2008
Levi Roots, creator of Reggae Reggae Sauce, was our fantastic, exciting special guest at the Schools for Africa parliamentary reception.
140 children from schools across the country involved with Schools for Africa heard Levi talk about his early days in music, and the experiences in Kenya that turned his life around. He visited Kibera, the massive slum in Nairobi where many of our Schools for Africa boxes go to orphans and vulnerable children.
And we also heard from the World Food Programme - how one child dies every five seconds as a result of poverty and hunger. The event was kindly sponsored by SAB Miller, and all the children received gifts from our sponsors, DHL.
In the picture above: Reggae Reggae star Levi Roots with Sally Keeble MP and children from Stimpson Avenue Primary School, Northampton.
