Sally Keeble for Northampton North
Labour has set out its plans for a Green transformation of our economy that will make the UK carbon neutral by 2030.
It’s a radical plan that has won the support of a group of economists at the Sustainability Research Institute, backed by Leeds University.
Among the key proposals are:
- Plans for 850,000 new sustainable jobs
- An increase in renewable energy, including solar, wind and tidal power.
- More support for electric vehicles
- Better home insulation – a move that will reduce energy consumption and also tackle fuel poverty
Sally’s work on green issues has seen her set up a climate change forum here in Northampton and work with communities in Bangladesh and East Africa on responses to climate change.
“Labour’s plans can make a real difference to climate change” said Sally. “There’s a lot we can do here in Northampton – acting locally to green our town, as well as being part of a national programme to protect the planet.”
